Mandy and Ceri have worked together for many years, having owned two practices together in Johannesburg for more than fifteen years prior to both families relocating to the beautiful Cape.
Our positive work relationship rapidly evolved into a firm friendship extending to our families! We are immensely grateful for this close connection and are as happy that Karen van de Venter, the friendly and highly competent ‘front desk face’ of our practice, is extending our positive network.
We are grateful, too, to have inherited the legacy that Gail Jacklin started so many years ago. We will continue to strive to keep Gail’s ethos of offering personal hearing care in the face of industry changes that seem to value quantity over quality.
Originally a KZN girl, Mandy qualified from Stellenbosch University in 2001 with a Batchelors degree in Audiology and Speech Therapy and moved into private practice in Johannesburg soon after graduation.
She helped develop a strong newborn hearing screening practice at Sandton Mediclinic and worked tirelessly at developing screening programmes for school-age children.
She has held several positions within our national Audiology body, the South African Association of Audiology (SAAA), both in management and on the Ethics and Standards Committee.
Mandy has a passion for clean diagnostics and patient-centered care within a family context.
Her warm personality and calm approach to problem-solving helps patients and their families feel reassured about looking after their hearing health.
Mandy is HPCSA and SAAA-registered.
Ceri grew up in Johannesburg, and after finishing her degree in speech therapy and audiology at WITS, she moved to England, where she worked in the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Trust for several years.
Here she started developing her passion for diagnostic testing, electrophysiology and vestibular assessment, which continues today.
Moving back to SA shortly after marriage, Ceri joined Mandy at the Johannesburg practice, helped develop the school-age screening programme and set up vestibular and bone-anchored hearing aid clinics.
The move to Cape Town ultimately presented Ceri with the opportunity to take over an electrophysiological test clinic – auditory brainstem response testing, Electrocochleography and other vestibular tests.
Other areas of interest include tinnitus and the assessment and management of auditory processing difficulties. Ceri likes to focus on gentle, supportive care, patient education, and step by step progression towards better listening skills with a strong emphasis on family-orientated communication support.
Ceri is HSPCA and SAAA registered.
Karen is a born and bred Capetonian. She has been married for 31 years, has one son and is a very proud grandmother!
Karen has been part of the team at the practice since starting with Gail Jacklin in May 2016.
She has progressed from reception to overall office management and is our chief coordinator and planner!
Karen delights in people and offers patience and gentility, going the extra mile to assist patients with bookings, hearing aid supplies, hearing aid troubleshooting and cleaning.
Karen is the warm face who will welcome you into our practice.
